There are close to 1 million sex offenders living in America today. Some are registered with their state's correctional department, others aren't. I just recently came across a blog post with the highest risk of sex offenders, and found it very interesting to know that it's a small state, Delaware, that takes the cake in terms of the amount of sex offenders per 1,000 inhabitants.

Many would have thought that California, Florida, Texas or New York would have been at the top, but it's states like Delaware, Oregon and Wyoming that are the top-3. Why these particular states? Nobody knows for sure, but if you live in any of these 10 states and have young children or teens at home, it is extremely important that you know your surroundings. The site will show you up to date information on those sexual predators including their photo, physical description and crimes that they were convicted for.

The rehab process for sex offenders is not easy, and many sex offenders commit second or third crimes after being released from jail, which is why it is paramount for parents to avoid neighborhoods with a high concentration of them.

It is also important to teach your children about sex offenders and how to ask for help if they feel threatened. On their walk to school, or if they go trick-or-treating during Halloween, it is also important to avoid the streets where sexual predators live if possible. After all, better be safe than sorry!
